Click4Group Car Warranty - Car Warranty For A Skoda Octavia

The Skoda Octavia 2004-8

The Skoda brand has famously come under fire over the last couple of decades; being associated with flimsy and unstylish cars. However, more recently (the last 10-12 years) Skodas' reputation has grown to a brand of reliability, comfort and safety. As a car warranty company we are always happy when the Volkswagen engine makes it ways into another marque. The Skoda is no exception to this. Thanks not only to the Volkswagen engine and chassis, but also to the instant recognition of undeniable reliability and experiance the world leading brand brings to the table, it has now easy to put the words "proud" and "Skoda owner" into the same sentence.

As with the other Skoda models, the Octavia is a solid purchase. They offer a sturdy, reliable vehicle with low running costs, however they do depreciate considerably. The turbodiesels hold the best retained values and the fuel consumption is in the high 40s. Generally the servicing costs are reasonable, along with the tax ratings being low. So far the Octavia has had no major known defects. This being said, however, things can and do go wrong with pretty much any vehicle somewhere down the line, and for this reason we would recommend that you purchase a extended car warranty for your Skoda Octavia when your manufactures deal expires.

Styling
The Octavia is sleek, spacious, well-built & appears to have all that other saloons & family hatchbacks have; and they do with more. There is a sense of feeling safe and comfortably-housed when sitting in an Octavia. In fact, the quality of the build is above what you would normally expect in this price range.

Interior
This sense of security continues into the interior. The panel gaps are close and tight & the doors shut snugly. Inside, the interior is impressive. It is simple & extremely well thought out, making it accessible & easy to use. It is spacious & robust, making it hard for many other manufacturers to compete on the same level. The driving position has various adjustment ranges. The seats are well-shaped and comfortable too. All of the storage is well laid out and there's plenty of it. There is also plenty of space for all passengers. Both of the hatchbacks & estate versions have exceptionally large boots, too. All models have a 60/40 split-fold rear bench. It has been said that the estate is bigger, seats up, than the Volvo V70. The Octavia has the Golf's defined controls, the gearstick is easily positioned & very slick to use. If you are purchasing a basic model Classic there is little in the way of equipment. However, if you are willing to pay for more, air conditioning, & all-round power windows are available. At top of the range, you will receive cruise control, leather upholstery & metallic paint.

Engine
The two turbocharged petrol options are the naturally the sporty choices. However, the most popular is the three 1.9-litre turbodiesels. They are the better for power & economy, particularly the superb 130bhp model. The other petrol engines are adequate but the basic 1.4-litre is a little underpowered. Even the sporty versions of the Octavia are not exhilarating. But the main object of these vehicles is that they concentrate on safety & comfort. If you want maximum mileage for minimum money, as well as safeguarding the environment, the direct fuel injection 1.6 & 2.0-litre FSI petrol engines are a superb choice.

Driving
Across the range there's a good level of crash protection, all models have twin airbags & anti-lock brakes. Upgrading to the Elegance gives you side airbag protection & traction control. Security is top notch too; deadlocks are standard. Driving the Octavia is generally like driving a silent cruiser. However, the non-turbocharged petrol engines do get a little noisy if you drive them hard. The turbodiesels can rattle when cold, but once warm they are amongst the quietest four-cylinder diesels.

Due to having the Golf's platform, the Octavia handles well. It is soft and responsive, ensuring a comfortable ride. The body control in corners is good making sure that the roll is contained; the grip levels are high and the steering is well weighted & responsive. The brakes are effective & the Octavias feature ESP stability control as standard. The ride on the Sport models provides a firm edge due to the low-profile tyres & 17-inch wheels. The RS models have stiffened suspension.

Models
Across the board, the Octavia has been commended as its ability is without question. New models range from £12,540 to £20,295, but you can pick up a bargain on a used Skoda Octavia with models as late as 2008 advertised for under 10K.

Trim levels include Classic, Elegance, Avantgarde & the Sport variant which is a UK-specific model. Servicing at dealerships is very reasonable, tax and insurance are also low ratings across the models; all combining to make the Skoda Octavia a rather good buy indeed.
