What's Covered

Always ensure the warranty you buy is Insurance Backed!

Click4Warranty policies are insurance backed contracts and we are authorised and regulated by the Financial Conduct Authority.

As an FCA Regulated provider we ensure our web-site reflects the cover of our policies and draws attention to significant terms.

Our guides are designed to simplify the process and highlight the Click4Warranty ethical approach.

A good warranty covers a comprehensive list of mechanical parts that are likely to go wrong

That's exactly what our warranties do! But, unless you're a mechanic, how can you be sure?

To help, here is a bullet point list that includes some key limitations, what we don't cover and features and benefits, information designed to help you decide the cover for you.

This is not a complete list, the policy terms provide full details of the cover provided and all the exclusions. We recommend you take a moment to read through the policy terms, in conjunction with your schedule, to see exactly what is covered.

To help you understand what parts are covered by our warranties, we provide listed components, for each component area of your vehicle.  These are protected against mechanical and electrical failure.  The components covered lists are complete and this means that if a component is not listed it is not included. find out more > > >

Limitations

Drawing attention to important limitations could lead to you looking for an alternative warranty.  However, we are confident our policies provide affordable cover for likely failure. These limitations are typical across most warranty providers, the Click4Warranty difference is we will never endorse misleading claims or tactical advertising.  Our ethical approach means our policy holders stay with us, or return when they are suprised by another providers small print at point of claim!

  •  DIAGNOSTICS

Click4Warranty calculate the labour content of any claim according to the standard ICME (Institute of Chartered Mechanical Engineers) repair times. ICME is used by most leading repairers and warranty providers.

On occasions, the ICME repair time includes an element of “diagnostic”. For example parts such as ECU, depending on the fault, could need to be plugged in for diagnostic as part of the repair. In fact, we do include reasonable diagnostics when calculating repair times.

In view of this, we don't believe it ethical to advertise we cover diagnostic when the general perception being diagnostic includes dismantling work.  Our terms requiring you to “give your permission to carry out any fault finding/diagnosis or dismantling necessary” so we believe it incorrect for our advertising to mislead consumers into believing all dismantling and diagnostic costs are covered on every occassion.

Unfortunately not all companies share our ethical approach with small print typically holding exlusions like "Your Plan will pay for diagnostic or dismantling work only if assessed by us as being reasonable within the Repair Cost of a valid repair. It is your responsibility to authorise (at your own expense) any diagnostic or dismantling of any part of your Vehicle."

  •  OVERHEATING

Click4Warranty offer cover for the parts that commonly cause overheating, these include...

    •  Engine cooling system
    •  Thermostat Water pump
    •  Thermostatically controlled radiator fan motor
    •  Radiator
    •  Cylinder head gasket

Your duty of care in the policy terms states the following  "We will not pay for repairs that are necessary because you have not looked after your vehicle properly. Do not continue to drive if your vehicle is faulty, you should do all you reasonably can to protect your vehicle  from further damage"

Therefore, while the parts are covered, as to the best of our knowledge it's not possible for your car to overheat with the engine switched off, we believe it would be missleading to imply in our advertising overheating is covered.

  •  CONTRIBUTION FOR VEHICLES OVER 60,000 MILES

While you benefit from all the protection of our polices at no extra premium and the standard excess remains at just £10, if you do make a valid claim, a "betterment" contribution is required. find out more > > >

  •  UNLIMITED NUMBER OF CLAIMS

All Click4Warranty policies have a choice of three substantial claim limits. You can make an unlimited number of claims and we will apply the single claim limit to each claim. The maximum amount we will pay "in total" during the term of the policy is set at the Glass's Guide retail value of your car at the time of claim.

  •  LISTED COMPONENTS

To help you understand what parts are covered by our warranties, we provide listed components, for each component area of your vehicle.  These are protected against mechanical and electrical failure.  The components covered lists are complete and this means that if a component is not listed it is not included. find out more > > >

What we don't cover

  •  Items you might replace during routine service such as tyres, brake pads, oil filters/fluid changes, bulbs, etc.
  •  The first £10 of every claim
  •  Pre-existing faults
  •  Consequential damage
  •   Electric hoods
  •  There is a betterment contribution for cars over 60,000 miles but not related to the age.
  •  Timing belts, but only if they haven't been changed in line with the manufacturers schedule
  •  Batteries, but we do cover the distributor
  •  Clutch parts are covered, but not if they're burnt or worn out.
  •  Diesel particulate filter (DPF), as damage is generally caused by the way the car is driven
  •  Modifications
  •  Damage to paintwork and glass
  •  Claims if you haven't serviced your car correctly during cover
  •  Grey imports, taxi, courier etc.
  •  Vehicles over 12 years old (cover stops when the vehicle reaches 12 years old)
  •  Vehicles over 150,000 miles (cover stops when the vehicle reaches 150,000 miles)
  •  Vehicles with less than 28 days valid MOT at time of policy purchase
  •  Faults caused by overheating, but we do cover the parts that may cause it like the water pump and radiator
  •  If cause of a failure isn't apparent diagnostics, but they are included if listed in the ICME mechanical repair times.  This is the industry standard comprehensive data providing vehicle manufacturers' recommended repair times.

This guide is not a complete list of all features, benefits, limitations etc.
