What information will I need to lodge a claim?
You will need to have the following information handy:
- The reason for the breakdown or failure (if known), or your cause for concern if this is before a breakdown.
- Your details, your vehicle details, and your policy number.
- The current location and condition of the vehicle (driveable, not driveable, broken down).
Once we have this information we’ll be able to assist you in determining if you have a claim and how to move forward.
How will you manage my claim?
Our aim is to make your claim as fast and stress free as possible. Managing claims efficiently takes qualified and experienced professionals, that’s why we’ve appointed the specialist claims management company, AutoProtect (MBI) Ltd., to manage your claim experience and deliver fast settlement.
Can I use my own repairer?
You have the option of using your own repairer, as long as they are VAT registered, and will follow the claims procedures.
Can I start the repairs before the claim is authorised?
We know that on occasion your car might breakdown outside of office hours, or in a situation where it’s not possible to call the Claims Administrator as required. Only in this kind of emergency can you authorise the repairs to go ahead.
If this should happen, please be sure to:
- Keep any parts that the repairer removes or replaces, so we can inspect them to validate your claim.
- Request a VAT receipt from the repairer, that clearly indicates:
- Your vehicle details
- The nature and cause of the breakdown
- The details of the repair, including the cost of any part(s) and labour
- The time and date the fault was diagnosed and the repair carried out.
- Always make sure to contact the claims department at the earliest possible opportunity on the next business day.
- Authorisation of your claim will depend on you having followed the terms of your policy and this claims process, as well as the parts being listed as covered parts under the policy option you selected.
How will my claim be handled?
All of our extended car warranty claims are managed in the UK, by the expert claims team of Autoprotect Limited. They manage our claims with expert attention and settle valid claims within days.
Their claims team are all expert, trained technicians, and their dedicated and experienced claims handlers and loss adjusters will provide you with the assurance that your claim will be handled efficiently and effectively, from the very first notification, to desk and field-based validation, through to claims resolution and associated reporting.
How much can I claim, and how many times can I claim?
You can claim up to the maximum benefit level you selected for each valid claim that you make. And, there’s no limit to the number of claims you can make in the lifetime of your policy, as long as you follow the terms of the policy option you selected.
Should I accept the repair quote from the repairer?
Please do not accept any quote from the repairer, or start with the repairs, until our Claims Administrator have issued an authorisation number for your valid claim. If it’s an emergency situation you may go ahead, but be sure both you and the repairer follow the emergency claims process.
Who will you pay in the event of a claim?
Your extended warranty claim for repairs will be made directly to the repairer to save you from being out of pocket. This is why it’s important to wait for the authorised claim number to be issued by our Claims Administrator.
What hourly labour rate is covered?
The hourly labour rate for authorised claim times (based on ICME repair times) is covered in full, subject to the maximum benefit level you selected if you use an approved repairer.
If you would prefer to use your own repairer, we will cover up to the equivalent national labour rate (including VAT) negotiated by AutoProtect. This is currently £57.60ph if the repairer is inside the M25, or £48.00ph outside the M25.
What are ICME repair times?
The Institute of Chartered Mechanical Engineers (ICME) provide an independent service that is used throughout the motor industry; garages and insurers alike, to establish labour repair times.
What if it’s not apparent what’s causing the fault?
Usually, the cause of a fault is apparent and the repairs can be completed straightaway. Sometimes though, it isn’t clear what is causing the fault and the garage needs to investigate the cause. If this happens, and the garage makes a charge to identify the fault, the cost of the diagnosis will not be covered.
How quickly will you pay my claim?
We appreciate that your car being off the road is inconvenient and places a strain on you and your family, so we do everything in our power to make the claim process as quick and stress-free as possible.
In addition, we are totally committed to treating our customers fairly, and this means effective claims resolution and fast payment of claims, generally within days of receiving all of the required documents from yourself and the repairer.
Would I get compensation if you’re unable to pay my claim?
Red Sands Insurance Company (Europe) Limited, who underwrite your policy are protected by the Financial Services Compensation Scheme. This means that if the Insurer isn’t able to meet its responsibilities, you will be protected by the Financial Services Compensation Scheme (FSCS).
You can obtain further information about this compensation scheme at www.fscs.org.uk, or by emailing them at enquiries@fscs.org.uk, or by calling them on 0800 678 1100.
How much will my extended warranty pay out?
This will depend on the maximum benefit level you selected when you took out your policy, as well as the cause of your breakdown or failure event. Generally, valid claims will be paid out within days, directly to the approved repairer and can be as much as the maximum benefit level you selected, per claim.
When might my car warranty not pay out?
Your Click4Warranty policy details the circumstances that you cannot claim. These include, for example:
- Items replaced during routine service such as tyres, brake pads, bulbs, batteries etc.
- Pre-existing faults identified as faulty before the policy start date
- Negligence or intentional damage
- Timing belts if not changed in line with the manufacturers schedule
- Clutch parts are covered, but not if they're burnt or worn out
- If your car has been modified from the manufacturer specification
- Any claims for bodywork, paintwork and glass
- Vehicles that have less than 28 days valid MOT at time of policy purchase
